BAr BAzAAr #2 – Samba and Choro in West End! Join us for the second installment of BAr BAzAAr, a new series of curated acoustic music events presented by Good Tunes. This month we journey to Brazil for an afternoon of infectious rhythms, beautiful melodies and musical traditions that have captivated audiences around the world. Ali Oliveira & FriendsLocal South Brisbane Brazilian singer Ali Oliveira takes you away to the relaxed tropical beach kiosks, back-street bars and festive neighbourhoods of Brazil with the warm and cosy sounds of samba and MPB grooves. Featuring samba de gafieira, samba canção and acoustic bossa jazz vibes, Ali and her troupe perform Brazilian classics from artists including Paulinho da Viola, Alcione, Beth Carvalho, Roberta Sá, Marisa Monte, Maria Rita, Novos Baianos and Martinho da Vila. Combining cavaquinho, guitar and the distinct energy of sizzling Brazilian percussion, this is music full of warmth, rhythm and celebration. Roda de ChoroExperience the rich sounds of choro, one of Brazil's earliest musical traditions. Performed by a small circle of acoustic musicians, this music features bandolim, clarinet, brass, flutes and light percussion, creating intricate melodies and spirited musical conversations. With origins in the coffee houses and social gatherings of late 19th and early 20th century Brazil, choro combines virtuosity, improvisation and joyful energy, while continuing to evolve through beautifully crafted contemporary compositions.
